I know we have been saying for some time that we would have some pics up of some new Paper Steak goodies, well, that time has come. I'll be posting some more stuff over the next few weeks, but this is a small peek into what we have been up to lately...

This is our new PSTK Diver tee. We here at The Steak have a big thing for old school divers. We like to imagine that under that mysterious helmet our hero has an eye patch, a killer mustache, and a pipe. Why? If you have to ask then you may have reached this site by accident. Hand carved and printed with a sweet Paper Steak type on an American Apparel 100% cotton tee.

As most of you know, our marching Hippo was one of the first graphics we came up with and we still love the guy. Super soft American Apparel tri-blend tee in Heather Grey with a washed down plum colored print.

We pride ourselves here at PSTK on the fact that we do as much as we can by hand. It was part of why we started doing this in the first place. Our hangtags have always been something we have had a lot of fun with and each one is a little different, you know, like a snowflake. Here is one of the favorites. Hand stamped Paper Steak logo with letterpressed sparrows on espresso stained cardstock.

Little Enos: I guess a legend and an out-of-work bum look a lot a like, daddy.

Well, here at The Steak you can at least look like a stylish out of work bum...I mean, why not? we sure do. Washed down and soft with a hand printed Paper Steak logo patch right on the front of your head bone.

One of our big mottos of late has been "Always Fine, Proven Gooder" and we figured what better way to let the world know that then to slap it on a big ol' belt buckle. High quality pewter buckle with a hand carved and printed Gooder Crown. Espresso stained and hand cast.

Keep yer eyes peeled for more newness comin' soon. We are getting all geeked up this week on fried pickles and sweet tea, so you know something big is going to happen.

This is ALWAYS true....Paper Steak is now operating from two locations: Atlanta GA and Columbus, OH. Have no fear, this is merely a result of some changes in the day to day jobs. As I mentioned in the previous post, we are better than ever and the goods are right around the corner...600 miles can't keep us down!

...That's our new motto, and we are. Yeah, we have been gone for a while, a looong while, but we figured a lot out about who or what Paper Steak is and more importantly what it is NOT. You see back in September we made a bold statement that big changes were coming, and they did...just not in the way we expected. We tried to make Paper Steak something it isn't and it very quickly became the exact thing we started it to escape from: THE DAILY GRIND!! So we took time, we re-focused and we re-grouped.We have a bunch of new stuff that we are proud of and very soon you will see some of the items available for purchase.Keep yer eyes peeled, it will be worth the wait...Always Fine, Proven Gooder.

Typecon 2009

PaperSteak supports beer tasting. Even if we have to do it with those really small glasses. City of Decatur Craft Beer Fest is coming up and we won the annual logo contest. This little guy will be featured on festival T's, tasting glasses and posters. Everyone on the committee named him Mr. Firkin and we're glad he's feeling the love. Thanks a bunch, Decatur.

Early New Year's Resolution

So, we at Paper Steak feel that we need to start the new year off right by getting some new stuff out the door ASAP to all you fine folks. So here is a small sampling of a couple of things we have been working on going into the new year.

We have been printing a bunch of random proof prints lately and started cutting them down into postcards. Here are just a few of them...

...and then a couple of them up close.

Also, we have a couple of versions of a new tee shirt design we just finished.

first, the blue halftone lion and lightning bolts...

...and second, the olive and red. These should be ready before the new year, more colors to come.

Another piece we have been working on that we are hoping to print soon. Just a fun bit of insight into the lonely world of the lollipop. Poor, poor lolli.

Roger worked on this a while back and hopefully we will be printing a limited run of these soon. I think it's an amazing piece of work and a great message for the times we live in. Click on it to get the large version. Some early test prints that were done were looking really good.

Been a little hectic in Paper Steak land the last few months. Well, that, and we are just really bad about updating things. Here is the long overdue image of the second of the Modern Skirts Fall Tour posters. The third image should be up soon, and more posts to follow very soon. I promise. No, really I mean it this time...

First of the Fall Tour

We fell off the grid here for a couple of weeks, hopefully that won't happen again. Here is the first of the series of three for the Modern Skirts Fall Tour. Two Hundred of each poster so keep an eye out for them around the venues. Again, if you haven't checked these guys out give them a listen. Their new album is coming out early October. We were really happy with how this one turned out. I have also decided that every bit of printing we do should start out with a big ol' Dancing Goats coffee and donut. Those donuts rock, that's all I'm saying.

In between waiting for the screens to dry we worked on some of the tees and got the letterpress up and running, so keep checking back for updates on some art prints, holiday stuff, and the tees.

Modern Skirts at the 40 Watt

We just finished a poster for the Modern Skirts show at the 40 Watt this coming Friday. These guys are great , if you are in Athens Friday night you should check them out.

Here is a lesson from the learn from your mistakes crates. This started out to be an event poster for the release of Breaking Dawn. Experimental printing gone awry. In the end we sorted it out though, figured out what we were doing wrong, fixed it and managed to get a few really cool proof prints on some of the collages.

So we had a chance to design a poster for an event with the author of the new Clone Wars book. Passing up a chance to return to our childhood and design a Star Wars poster was just not going to happen.
