Early New Year's Resolution

So, we at Paper Steak feel that we need to start the new year off right by getting some new stuff out the door ASAP to all you fine folks. So here is a small sampling of a couple of things we have been working on going into the new year.

We have been printing a bunch of random proof prints lately and started cutting them down into postcards. Here are just a few of them...

...and then a couple of them up close.

Also, we have a couple of versions of a new tee shirt design we just finished.

first, the blue halftone lion and lightning bolts...

...and second, the olive and red. These should be ready before the new year, more colors to come.

I'm Gonna Get You Sucka!

Another piece we have been working on that we are hoping to print soon. Just a fun bit of insight into the lonely world of the lollipop. Poor, poor lolli.

Hope is on the way.

Roger worked on this a while back and hopefully we will be printing a limited run of these soon. I think it's an amazing piece of work and a great message for the times we live in. Click on it to get the large version. Some early test prints that were done were looking really good.

Been way too long....

Been a little hectic in Paper Steak land the last few months. Well, that, and we are just really bad about updating things. Here is the long overdue image of the second of the Modern Skirts Fall Tour posters. The third image should be up soon, and more posts to follow very soon. I promise. No, really I mean it this time...

First of the Fall Tour

We fell off the grid here for a couple of weeks, hopefully that won't happen again. Here is the first of the series of three for the Modern Skirts Fall Tour. Two Hundred of each poster so keep an eye out for them around the venues. Again, if you haven't checked these guys out give them a listen. Their new album is coming out early October. We were really happy with how this one turned out. I have also decided that every bit of printing we do should start out with a big ol' Dancing Goats coffee and donut. Those donuts rock, that's all I'm saying.

Here is the first pass with that nice hot pink...

...and the resulting bottom layer.

The details in Orange.

One of many places the prints were drying.

and, the finished print.

"Why , yes, I think I WILL have a large Dancing Goats and a donut before I number all of these prints."

In between waiting for the screens to dry we worked on some of the tees and got the letterpress up and running, so keep checking back for updates on some art prints, holiday stuff, and the tees.

Modern Skirts at the 40 Watt

We just finished a poster for the Modern Skirts show at the 40 Watt this coming Friday. These guys are great , if you are in Athens Friday night you should check them out.

Laying down the color for the type.

The first pass.

The wall after the first color. These things were everywhere.

Roger starting to lay down the second color.

The wall with the finished poster, before trimming.

and finally signing and numbering. This was followed by a trip to Athens to drop them off and a big plate o' hoppin' john at Five Star Day.

Marching Hippo logo

The new Paper Steak Marching Hippo. He'll be showing up on some tees soon. Keep yer eyes peeled.

PROOFS!

Here is a shot finally of some of the test prints we have been creating. Some of them are starting to look really interesting.

Sir Gooder has arrived.

Surrounded by his infamous boxing monkeys ( the reason for his eye patch) and other vices that ultimately led to the downfall of his family's printing fortune, Sir Gooder has decided to make a long overdue appearance. A shot of the celebratory prints below.

A disastourous prom.

Here is a lesson from the learn from your mistakes crates. This started out to be an event poster for the release of Breaking Dawn. Experimental printing gone awry. In the end we sorted it out though, figured out what we were doing wrong, fixed it and managed to get a few really cool proof prints on some of the collages.

PEW! PEW! PEW!!!

So we had a chance to design a poster for an event with the author of the new Clone Wars book. Passing up a chance to return to our childhood and design a Star Wars poster was just not going to happen.

Take it easy there peanut!

So we finally got around to getting some work up on the ol' blog. Keep an eye out for the easy peanut over here. He'll be showing up on some larger prints and tees soon, and possibly some other "limited run" type things.
